Frederick William GREEN was born in Hockwold in 1906 (Thetford Q4-1906 4B:321) son of Mark and Elizabeth GREEN (nee MILLER).

1911 census: Aged 4, he was living near Wilton Cross, Hockwold with his father Mark GREEN [50] a farm labourer born Hockwold; mother Elizabeth[42] born Lakneheath; brothers Arthur [23] farm labourer and Ernest [20] farm labourer and George M [15] farm labourer; sisters Florence [10] and Norma E [7]. All the children were born in Hockwold.

He married Clara Kathleen BROWN in 1927


He enlisted in Military Police there is no way, in the absence of his Army records, of finding where exactly he was killed or with which unit.
Gradara Cemetery contains the graves of casualties incurred during the advance from Ancona to Rimini, which broke the German's heavily defended Gothic Line.
